Backend Developer (PHP/Laravel)
Salary: £32,000 – £40,000 per annum

About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced Backend Developer to join our growing team at Verion. You will play a key role in developing and maintaining high-quality backend systems using PHP and Laravel, helping us drive innovation across our multi-contract compliance and payroll platform.
Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services and APIs using PHP and Laravel

Collaborate with front-end developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver scalable and efficient solutions

Optimise application performance and troubleshoot issues across existing and new projects

Write clean, well-documented, and testable code following best practices

Contribute to code reviews, technical discussions, and ongoing improvements of our technology stack
Skills and Experience Required:

Minimum 3 years of professional experience in backend development

Strong proficiency in PHP and Laravel framework

Experience working with databases such as MySQL

Familiarity with RESTful API development and third-party integrations

Understanding of version control tools, particularly Git

Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
Desirable Skills:

Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.)

Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines

Familiarity with Docker or similar containerisation tools
